Bigger odds are given to special accomplishments, so reap the largest rewards for nailing the toughest shots. Back your challenges with wagers before any shot or round. The left analog stick controls your swing, and the right analog Shape Stick dictates ball trajectory and putt strength. Do you have what it takes to beat Jack Nicklaus in his heyday with a bag full of wooden clubs or Tiger Woods with his modern-day equipment? For the first time, both analog sticks control each shot from tee to green. I enjoy having to read the greens, adjusting for slopes and grass length, and Tiger really doesn't offer much of that.Prove yourself as the greatest golfer of all time by taking on the legends in the prime of their careers - on their terms. To me, the putting has always been the series' lone weak spot, and that's still the case. You can practically do it with your eyes closed. Once you're locked on, dropping the putt is as easy as gently swinging your club. Called TigerVision, a simple push of a button will darken the screen, except for the potential path of your ball to the hole (the producers likened this to Tiger being "in the zone"). However, the new addition makes putting downright easy. You can still line up your shots the same way, and pushing the B button will show you an overhead of the hole, at which point you can adjust your putt accordingly. The putting game has some new additions, as well. If you prefer to use the traditional punch or flop shots you can, but it seems to be a bit easier using Ball-in-Stance, as you've got a wider selection of clubs. If you want to get the ball over an obstacle like a tree, slide back a little bit and get under the ball. A new addition to the driving game is the Ball-in-Stance mechanic, which allows you to move slightly back or forward depending on how you want to hit the ball. Most of the post-drive controls are back as well, like tapping the black button to change the spin of the ball. You still use the left analog stick to hit the ball, pulling it back and pushing it forward, and you can control it by pushing slightly to either side. For the most part, the core gameplay in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 has stayed the same, which is generally a good thing.
